ABSTRACT

There is a known problem regarding the misuse of child safety restraints in cars as cited by Shelness & Jewett (1983), Cynecki & Goryl (1984), Kahane (1986) and Prior (1991) amongst others, all of which were observational studies. Misuse is defined as being any deviation from correct use, as outlined by the manufacturer. This reduces their crash protection and may result in unnecessary injury or death.
