ABSTRACT
There is a need for human factors (HF) input into the design of the displays and controls utilised in the Central Control Room (CCR). Great use is being made of computerised systems and VDU-based interfaces for simple and complex process control operations. It is of foremost importance therefore, that in order to guard against human error in these new technology systems, sufficient human factors attention is given to the design of the operator-machine interface.
