ABSTRACT

The role of isokinetic dynamometry in the assessment of muscle function has been well documented (Cabri, 1991). Much interest has been directed towards the determination of muscle imbalances (left/right or agonist/antagonist), as these are believed to be related to injury (Cabri and Clarys, 1991). Greatest attention has been paid to the ratio of the hamstrings and quadriceps muscle groups, as these play an important role in knee joint stability (Westing and Seger, 1989).
