ABSTRACT

The Armoured Fighting Vehicles (AFVs) of the future will be required to incorporate technologically advanced communication, navigation, sensor and weapon systems. The effectiveness of the interface between these systems and the crew will have a direct impact on the overall AFV performance. The work undertaken by the Crew Systems Section of DRA Chertsey addresses various aspects of AFV Crewstation design in order to optimise this interface. The man-machine interface (MMI) trial described here constituted one part of the Crew Systems research.
