ABSTRACT
Two complementary projects were undertaken concerning the handling of linen in the Housekeeping Departments of six Swallow Hotels and one North Eastern Health Authority Laundry. The distribution of linen within the hospitals, including its final “installation” onto beds was observed, and anecdotally reported, to be similar to the process within the hotel. The laundry studied had, previously, undertaken work for local hotels and is expected to be replaced by a commercial hotel laundry when the hospital site is closed in 1995.
