ABSTRACT
With advances in technology and miniaturisation of electronic components and circuit design, product validation (testing) has become an increasingly difficult part of the manufacturing process. In an ideal world manufacture should strive for a right first time policy with no need for product testing. Unfortunately rapid advances in design and manufacture in electronics means that leading edge technology is consistently in a state of verification and testing is a necessary fact of life. The role of testing has become an important part of the manufacturing process due to miniaturisation and complexity.
