ABSTRACT

To many people, the most acceptable method of progressing towards Concurrent Engineering (CE) is one which relies heavily upon a procedural basis. This may entail building procedural and managerial bridges between “islands” of Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) systems. In part, at least, this approach is due to the ownership issues surrounding what needs to be a corporate-wide system. Certainly the emphasis given by various functional teams within an organisation will vary, and will also be different between different organisations. Parallels may be drawn here with implementation of other company-wide systems eg.
