Expanding a corporate GIS into an authority’s high schools

Since its initial conception in 1990 and implementation in 1993, Powys County Council has adopted a fully corporate approach to the implementation of GIS within the Authority. This has resulted in the development of a wholly integrated system across departments allowing extensive interchange of data (Gill, 1996). A logical extension of this approach was to implement this same system within the Authority’s high schools.
