ABSTRACT
As reported elsewhere in this book, many studies have been published in which psychosocial working conditions have been related to locomotor disorders. In the present review, possible mechanisms underlying observed relationships are examined. The decision to use the demand-control-support model as theoretical basis in the present review is arbitrary. Other models could have been used as well, and the concepts that will be discussed could be translated into similar ones in other theoretical models.
