ABSTRACT

Al-Ain is a town in the United Arab Emirates and is situated to the east of the Abu Dhabi Emirate near the border with the Sultanate of Oman (Figure 16.1). It is the administrative center of the Eastern Province of the Emirate and one of the largest and most ancient oases of the Arabian Peninsula resulting from a plentiful supply of fresh underground water derived from the Oman mountains to the east.
