ABSTRACT
In 1995, the European Umbrella Organisation for Geographic Information (EUROGI) commissioned RAVI, the Netherlands Council for Geographic Information, to conduct a survey on the legal protection of geographical information in the EU. Initially, the situation in five countries was reviewed in a pilot study. Subsequently the remaining ten EU countries were researched. This chapter is based largely on the final report of February 1996 (Eechoud, 1996).
