ABSTRACT
Since early in the 1980s, ecological reasons have led in many countries to a reduction in or complete elimination of pentasodium triphosphate (STP) in de tergents, replacing it with other builder systems. In several countries, such as Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Italy, the STP content of detergents is reg ulated by law; in other countries there are voluntary agreements between the relevant authorities and the detergent industry.
