ABSTRACT
The expressions developed will be for simple tension loading and for restrictions of load and elongation. Expressions can be developed for more complex loading, such as bending or torsion, but the purpose here is to illustrate the methodology and not to become overwhelmed by the calculations. Design problems at the end of the chapter permit students to develop the relationships for some bending situations.
