ABSTRACT
Bulk deformation generally has the starting material in the form of semifinished shapes that have a high volume-to-surface-area ratio, or high modulus. The bulk deformation increases the surface area and thus decreases the value of the modulus. Generally, deformation is three dimensional and elastic recovery is insignificant.
