ABSTRACT

The process selection procedure presented follows that of Edwards and Endean (2) and the Keptner-Tregoe (3) decision process. This is a twostage decision process, the first stage being the "feasible" stage and the second stage being the "optimal" stage. In the first stage, all the "feasible" characteristics must be satisfied; if not, the process is eliminated from further consideration. In the second stage, all processes that satisfy the first stage are evaluated first upon minimal process criteria and then upon "optimal" process performance characteristics. The remaining process that satisfies best the "optimal" characteristics is selected. In the Keptner-Tregoe decision process, the "must" stage corresponds to the "feasible" stage, and the "want" stage corresponds to the "optimal" stage.
