ABSTRACT

In the microlithography for semiconductor device fabrication, the minimum feature size of the pattern printed optically on a layer of photoresist is often in the same order of magnitude as the wavelength of light used to print the pattern. Therefore, the knowledge of wave optics, where light is regarded as an electromagnetic wave, is necessary to find the theoretical limit of resolution in this technology.
