ThrustcollarscanalsobeusedforlargepresscolumnsasshowninFigure18.The reasonsforusingthrustcollarsratherthanthreadsonlargepresscolumnsaretheeaseof assemblyandtherelativeinsensitivitytonicksandbruises.Evenasmallnickcanmakeit impossibletoturnabignutbyhand.Pressnutsarealsoheavy(1000lbforan18in.nut), andsomehavetobethreadedontothecolumnsfrombelowthebottomplatenasshownin Figure19,makingitdifficulttoliftandturnthematthesametime.Thrustcollarsaremuch easiertohandlebecausethethrustcollarbodycanbejackedupoverthebottomendofthe
