ABSTRACT

Chapter 16 provided an introduction to e-commerce. In particular, the definition of e-commerce, its relationship to e-business, the process of e-commerce, models for e-commerce, architectures for e-commerce, and further considerations such as the role of information technology, security, transactions and some other aspects were discussed. Now that we have some understanding of what e-commerce is all about, let us take a look at the various information technologies discussed in Part II and determine how they can be applied to e-commerce. Since data mining is of special interest to us, we explore the application of web mining further.
