ABSTRACT

In Part II we will see how these technologies will be applied to the web. Databases have to be accessed through the web. Furthermore, heterogeneous databases have to be integrated on the web. The data sources on the web have to be mined to extract information. The usage patterns on the web can also be mined to give web sites additional information. Object technology has contributed to the web a great deal. The most popular programming language for the web is Java and it is object-oriented. Security is critical for the web, as electronic commerce applications have to be secure.
