ABSTRACT
Family Felidae in the order Carnivora. The family contains close relatives such as the lynx and ocelot as well as more distantly related lions, tigers , and leopards. Cats are lithe and muscular predators with broad heads and short muzzles . With the excep tion of the cheetah, all cats have distinctly retractable claws.
