ABSTRACT
Research on cell dericient forms would progress faster if artifacts did not so duplicate the morphology of variant growth. Examples of false colonies are given in tne accompanying micrographs (Figures 36-1 and Lipids in chick embryo and in tissue can easily be confused with the fungoidal type of wall deficient bacteria; I I thus making microscopic studies with these preparations difficult. The artifacts are carried over to egg yolk-containing media such as
's and Loewenstein 's. used for growth of Mycobacteria. The need to employ medi ;1 Cree of egg components becomes obvious .
