ABSTRACT

Evaluation,FeedbackandEvolution Systemsareimplementedtoachievespecificpurposesanditisimportanttothe developmentofanyorganisationthatnewsystemsareevaluatedtocheckwhathas beenachieved.Evaluationsofsystemsinoperationcanserveanumberofobjectives. Firstly,theycandemonstratewhethertheintendedincreasesinproductivity,decreases inresources,etc.havebeenachieved.Itisquitecommonfororganisationstodevotea lotoftimeandresourcestocostjustifyingasystemdevelopment,soitwouldseem naturaltocheckwhethertheassumptionswerejustified.Secondly,evaluationscan showthebarriersanddifficultiesthatpreventthefullexploitationofthesystembyits usersandcanleadtoactiontoremovethesebarriers.Thirdly,evaluationscanprovide theevidenceuponwhichfuturedevelopmentplanscanbebuilt.Userswithexperience ofanexistingsystemareinamuchbetterpositiontoberealisticabouttheirrequirementsforthenextgenerationofsystem.Fourthly,evaluationscanrevealunexpected side-effectsofsystemswhichmaybepositiveandprovidenewavenuesfor developmentordeleteriousandrequireremedialaction.Inshort,evaluationisvitalif anorganisationistolearnfromthechangeprocessithasundertaken.
