explanationcoveringeachoftheseelementsmayprove helpful.Intheinstanceofplanning,thesupervisoris mainlyconcernedwiththecommunicationoflongterm plansandtheexecutionofshorttermplanningas indicatedbytheprogrammes.Seniorsupervisorsare frequentlyinvolvedinthepreparationofprogrammes, devisingmethodsofworking,andarethenwellplacedto ensurethatthemethodsareinstalledandmaintainedat theworkplaceoncethecontractisunderway.Many supervisorsinconstructiondevelopspecialisations,and the"concreteframesupervisor"isarecognisedexpertin thisparticularfield.Theframesupervisorgenerally commencesworkinthegroundthensupervisesbasement constructionandthereinforcedsuperstructurethrough tothecompletionoftheconstruction.Atthisstagea finishingsupervisorwilltakeoveranddealwiththe installationofservices,controlofmechanical/electrical tradesandotherfinishingtrades.Theframesupervior thenhastheresponsibilityofarrangingthesupplyof concrete(orreceiptofreadymixedconcrete),themeansof handlingusingavarietyofplantwhichwillhavebeen orderedinconjunctionwiththeplantmanagerorsuppliers,organisationoftheworkplace,particularlythe arrangementsforgangsofformworkers,steelfixers, concreters,finishersandsoon.Allthisdemandsan intimateknowledgeoftheskillsinvolved.Inthiscontexta considerableamountofliaisonisrequiredwithboth thosewhohaveplannedtheoveralloperation,selected methodsandproducedcostcomparisons,andthosewho controlthealliedtrades--carpenters,steelfixers,electricalandmechanicalservices,andsoon.
