Seedtransmissionreferstothepassageofinoculumfromaninfectedor infestedseedtoaplant.Theagentsthataretransmittedandcausediseaseare seed-transmittedpathogens,whereaspathogensthatareassociatedwithseedsbut donotplayaroleindiseasedevelopmentarenonseed-transmittedpathogens.For example,thecurlytopvirusisfoundintheperispermofsugarbeetseedsand thusiscarriedbyseedsbutthevirusisnottransmittedfrominfectedseedsto seedlings.'
