ABSTRACT

Chemical feed pumps are generally piston pumps (also called "positive displacement" pumps). This type of pump operates on the principle of positive displacement. This means that it displaces, or pushes out, a volume of chemical equal to the volume of the piston. The length of the piston, called the stroke, can be lengthened or shortened to increase or decrease the amount of chemical delivered by the pump. Nomally the piston pump is operated no faster than about 50 gpm.
