ABSTRACT
Artificial neural networks were inspired by the functioning of the brain and attempts to mimic certain biological systems. As such, artificial neural networks constitute massive interconnections of ele ments, the neurons, whose inputs consist of appropriately weighted sums of the neuron outputs, along with suitable bias terms, when necessary. The neurons are represented by appropriate functions, called activation functions.
