ABSTRACT
If we already have a gearbox available and can run it slowly under design torque, without wrecking gears or bearings, then the reliable and the most straightforward approach is to measure the quasi-static T.E. (see Chapter 7). This gives a very reliable answer with an accuracy of a fraction of a micron and can give major clues if anything is going badly wrong.
