ABSTRACT
We normally define the “geometrical” contact ratio between a pair of gears as the length of line of contact, measured along the pressure line, from pinion tip to wheel tip, divided by the distance between two successive teeth surfaces also measured along the pressure line, i.e., the base pitch.
