ABSTRACT

Let A be a matrix of dimension p×q. Let R(A) be the vector space spanned by the rows of A and let C(A) be the vector space spanned by the columns of A. The space R(A) is called the row space of A and its rank r(A) is called the row rank of A. The space C(A) is called the column space of A and its rank c(A) is called the column rank of A. For any matrix A, r(A)=c(A).
