ABSTRACT

Recently, there is a growing interest in data mining (DM) and knowledge discovery in databases (KDD) among researchers from many areas such as artificial intelligence, statistics, and data visualization. There are many kinds of data mining tasks (Witten and Frank (2000), Han and Kamber (2000)). These tasks often require different statistical tools and points of view, even for the same data set. For example, information for detecting telephone fraud and for locating potential target customers for new telephone services can both be obtained by analyzing the same dataset.
