ABSTRACT
Organic coatings play an enormous role in the protection of iron and steel from corrosion. Historically, pigments based on metal chromate salts have been used in these coatings to improve their corrosion resistance. Recent environmental issues associated with these pigments, however, have led to the development of heavy-metal-free anticorrosive pigments and organic corrosion inhibitors.
