ABSTRACT
The complementary functions of pulmonary blood flow, gas exchange, and the delivery of oxygen to peripheral tissues are considered and reviewed in this chapter. Individual disease states are alluded to in this chapter, but only by way of illustrating key physiologi cal principles. The reader is referred to the other relevant chapters for more detailed discus sions of the individual disease states.
