ABSTRACT
Because the manufacturing system as a whole often involves business considerations as well as many different organizations within the firm, implementation of many of the strategies discussed require company wide buyin, participation, and management support. Implementation will also likely require significant resources and planning. However, when successfully implemented, the benefits of improved profitability and business performance that they are likely to produce make them well worth the effort and expense.
