ABSTRACT

The majority of lifetime relations applied in thermal fatigue situations have been developed within a low-cycle-fatigue (LCF) data base. These relations are obvi ously directly applicable to thermal fatigue, provided that:

1. The strain and temperature cycles to which the component is subjected are determined,

2. The effect of stress raisers is evaluated, 3. Both of the above enable the maximum effective stress-strain range to be

determined, and then the life can be calculated from the life relation chosen.
