ABSTRACT

The first low-fin condenser tube was developed in 1940. The first type, and still the most common type, had 19fins per inch with a fin height of slightly less than 1/ 16 in. The original tube was made of copper and intended for hydrocarbon condensing service. Subsequent research and development in machine tools and metallurgy made it possible to produce the tube in any metal which could be extruded or upset.
