ABSTRACT

As a final note, the unweighted sums of squares cannot be defined when some KiJ = 0. Kazempour and Graybill (1991a) considered constructing intervals on PA and p8 in models with missing cells, and recommended an alternative to the unweighted sums of squares. In particular, their proposed sums of squares are equivalent to the Type II sums of squares in PROC GLM of SAS©. Intervals on PA and p8 were formed using (6.3.3) and (6.3.4) with appropriate substitutions. Section 6.6.2 provides additional discussion of this approach in the without interaction model.
