ABSTRACT

When intervals are desired for p-1, appropriate transformations can be performed on intervals for p. For example, if [L;U) is a twosided 1 - a interval on p, then [l/V;l/L] is a 1 -a interval on p-1•

3.4.3 Intervals on Other Ratios

The coefficients for the general ratio considered in Section 3.4.2 were all nonnegative. However, negative coefficients are sometimes required to define a ratio of interest. Although no single method has been proposed for constructing intervals on all ratios of this form, results for one special case have been obtained.
