ABSTRACT

Amines may be considered as ammonia derivatives in which one or more of the hydrogen atoms of ammonia have been replaced by an alkyl, aryl, arylalkyl, or heterocyclic group. Many different amination processes can be used to prepare amines both in the laboratory and by industry. In general, these can be classified as involving the replacement of a nonnitrogen containing group or the reduction of a group already containing a carbon-nitrogen bond such as the nitro group (R-N0 2 ).
