ABSTRACT
Ketene is polarized such that it is prone to nucleophilic attack at the central carbon or, more rarely, to electrophilic reaction at a terminal atom [3,4]. A third mode of reactivity, the [2 + 2] cycloaddition to give four-membered-ring compounds, has been extensively studied by mechanistic and synthetic chemists [5-7].
