Nitrogen Derivatives

In this chapter three major nitrogen derivatives of acetic acid will be discussed:

Acetamide N,N-Dimethylacetamide Acetonitrile

These major industrial chemicals can be considered derivatives of acetic acid as they all can be prepared directly from it and retain the acetyl group as part of the final molecule. However, their industrial production may not involve the use of acetic acid.
