ABSTRACT

The photographic system is used to capture the spatial and spectral distributions of light so that they can be stored, transmitted, and viewed at a future time. The spatial information is captured through the use of lenses, which focus light from points in the scene to points in the film plane. The spectral information is a continuous distribution of visible wavelengths from the scene, which is the difference between the illuminant spec trum and light that is adsorbed or diffracted by the object within a scene.
