ABSTRACT
I. INTRODUCTION This chapter reviews charge transport in polymers and related materials. The organization is by conductivity type and the appropriate donor or acceptor functionality. The discussion includes molecularly doped polymers, pendant and main chain polymers, and related organic glasses. Where appropriate, the molecu lar structures are included in Appendix 3. For reviews of early work, see Gill (1976), Stolka and Pai (1978), Mort (1980), Bassler (1981), Mort and Knights (1981), Brehmer (1981), and Mort and Pfister (1982). For more recent work, see Mort and Pai (1987), Abkowitz and Stolka (1987), Vannikov and Grishina (1989), Bassler (1989,1990, 1993), Haarer (1990), and Abkowitz (1992). A discussion of theories proposed to describe these phenomena has been included in Chap. 7.
