ABSTRACT
Although the adhesive force can be obtained directly from the peel and pull-off tests when the coating is weakly adhesive, it is necessary to adopt other methods when a film is strongly bonded to a substrate. Since the stress is concentrated at the interface region in the scratch test, this method has been used extensively for practical determination of adhesion, despite a Jack of clear physical interpretation.
