Fluid Catalytic Cracking of Residues

The zeolite provides very high acidic activity, but has pores ca. 9 A in diameter which are inaccessible to large hydrocarbon molecules. These species crack, therefore, on the exterior of the zeolite and in the silicaalumina matrix.
