ABSTRACT
The package, as discussed previously, provides the physical support for the IC, enables electrical connection to be made to the external circuitry, must present an inert and dry atmosphere to the surface of the IC, must provide a thermal path for heat generated by the IC to be safely conducted to the external environment, and must provide protection against the external environment.
