ABSTRACT
The visual structures of pull production include the layout-production cells, a supermarket system, and the ship stage-as well as an address system for the plant. Both are discussed in this chapter. A visual communication system also includes production tally boards, unit count boards, and the raw material order board, discussed in Chapter 4, Visual Production Process. The heijunka box is also part of this visual structure and will be discussed in detail in Chapter 5. The heijunka box is the culmination of your pull system; when installed, it facilitates simplifying the entire production control process. But first, you must establish the visual layout and communication processes discussed in this chapter.
