ABSTRACT
Lean manufacturing, the American term for the Toyota Production System (TPS) popularized by James Womack at MIT, has rapidly come to stand for all that is forward thinking in manufacturing. The word itself focuses on the heart of TPS-eliminating “fat” or waste in the production process.
