ABSTRACT

When the New Jersey group met in August 1941 to discuss the results of their Job Instruction Program, its success led TWI to the next logical step, creating another “J” program that would conserve “manpower, machine capacity, equipment, and material” and directly address improving the methods workers used every day. Glenn Gardiner set forth some guidelines for the possible program:

1. A way to comb a plant quickly in order to discover all jobs with possibilities for methods improvements.
