The nature of operations at Intel’s Santa Clara, Calif., facility made it a natural candidate for a TPM implementation. As a yearround, 24 x 7 operation, equipment reliability is crucial. The chipmaking equipment also needs an uninterrupted supply of electricity, water, steam, gases, chemicals, and waste-treatment services to remain online.
