ABSTRACT

The purpose of measuring overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) is to drive improvement in the production process. But for OEE to meet this goal it’s critical that the people using OEE -- or any measure for that matter – understand why they are making the measurement and what is going to happen with the information collected. The leadership must understand it, too, and clearly communicate to operators their expectations and intentions. If you don’t take this very critical step, the measure could impair your improvement effort instead of driving it.
